Introducing New Driver Training Program

Monday, Jan. 28th 2013

Our New Driver Training Program is Finally Here!

Have you ever been turned down for a driving position due to “not enough experience”?

With the exception of the largest trucking companies with thousands of trucks, most reputable small to midsized carriers require a new hire to have a fairly substantial amount of prior relative tractor/trailer driving experience

Davis Express is no different. with some fairly prestigious clients in the Southeast, the need for us to hire qualified and reliable drivers has been a key component to our success.

This requirement still remains unchanged. However, the way by which we select these drivers has undergone some recent modifications–improvements, if you will.

Because we are a regional over-the-road carrier, meaning our drivers are away from home for at least a week at a time, we have always required a driver recruit to possess a minimum of at least 2 years of verifiable OTR experience before being eligible for consideration.

However, we have recently initiated a new Driver Training Program that allows us to hire drivers with only 12 months of tractor/trailer experience. What’s more is that this experience does not have to be OTR, but even local tractor/trailer experience will count.

How It Works:
In a nutshell, a new driver enrolled in the training program will be teamed up with a driver trainer/mentor for the duration of the program, which lasts only 4 weeks, and will be compensated with a weekly flat salary of $700.

Once the trainee graduates the program successfully, they will receive their own assigned tractor and begin earning mileage pay. This mileage pay will range anywhere from 38 to 42 CPM, depending upon the amount of actual tractor/trailer experience they have, prior to the training program.

This opens up a lot of new and exciting opportunities for relatively new drivers to get on-board with an A+ company, without having to acquire 2 years of actual over-the-road experience beforehand.

If you would like more information about this great opportunity and what Davis Express has to offer you, give us a call today and speak with one of our helpful recruiters.
